Artus Studio

Self-contradiction has been one of the main themes of Artus for quite a while. How do the essential terms like everything, nothing, forever, never or silence appear in our lives, given that – on second thought – they do not really exist, in fact. Or do they? All in all, we have been researching these for millennia.

The little everything

The „little everything”  a fractal is the conceivable human scale of the great, timeless, endless and incomprehensible Everything. Just as much as we are capable of living, sensing, seeing of the great whole in the course of our life. The little everything can appear in form of a single movement, a hug, a touch, a word, and means not more (or less) than the breath of the „big everything.”

What kind of a person are you?

Open or reserved? Selfish or altruistic? Guilty or innocent? Rigid or resilient? Daring or cautious?  Rule-follower or rule-breaker? Are you attracted by old or new things? Do you learn or forget? Are you walking up or down? Do your actions have a cause or a goal?

Why was I never able to truly identify myself with any political party?
Why does it still bother me, when a believer or representative of a certain religion considers his/her way the only true way? When millions of people believe in one thing, and millions of people in something else, and even more millions of people believe in yet some other thing, is it possible that only the belief of one of these groups is the true one, and all the other views of the remaining millions of intelligent, thinking people are wrong?

Which of the different beliefs, worldviews, opinions, and approaches is the right one?

What is this compulsive and confirmed exclusivity? Is there really just a single right way? If two statements are contradicting each other, does it mean that only one of them is true or right?

Either this, or that? Do we have to decide? Is there a single truth?

Either – or?

How simple, how easy this would be.

Yet, there is something that implies it to be other way.

Not „either-or”, but „both-and”.

I often feel that I am both open and reserved, sociable and lonely, self-confident and unsure, giving and receiving, conservative and progressive at the same time. I am going up and down simultaneously, I am coming, but also going, moving and motionless at the same time. I am feeling both good and bad. I both am, and am not.

Both – and

Everything too

When we manage to experience the „everything too” state of balance instead of the compulsive „either – or”, we are able to enter the human scale universe of the „little everything”, where everybody can be who he/she truly is while still being connected to all the others.

The performance wandering around the whole building of Artus, will happen simultaneously in time and space, everywhere and at all times. The performer is spectator too. The spectator becomes performer too. Theatre (too), dance (too), visual arts (too), music (too), with
installations, projections, interactive situations, images and words, in brief = Artus (too).
