Retina – 2004

Why do people not look in each other’s eye?

„I live between two theatrical curtains. One opens up for the world, the other for me. Rarely.”
/GODA Gábor/

„The reality is created by the human imagination.”
/KARINTHY/

“Does it change the essence that the image is projected to retina from outside or inside?”
/Baricco/

TRAILER

It happened this way:

A man falls down from the rooftop. He is falling down a couple floors with a tile in his hand, then he lands on the ground. He is sitting there with the tile in his hand: he does not see, does not hear, does not move, but he is alive. While falling he looks in windows, gets a peep of people, furniture, situations. The windows seem like totally similar sized frames which are slipping away in front of his eyes. His eyes capture the flashing snatches of life seen in there. Due to the speed, these „photos” are sliding on each other like they were taken on the top of each other. It is his last and also his only memory. In the rest of his life, sitting on the ground, he is building up a new world with the details of this picture. The world gets upside down. From now on what is in his imagination, that appear on his retina.

„Similarly to all our performances, this is a model as well. It doesn’t circuit the reality but a possible version of it. Creation is not a copy of reality for me, but a completion for it: an invisible story, a contradictional spiritual process of acts. It doesn’t decode the mysteries of reality, it only points them out. It is going to the world of phenomenons. Personal myths take shape in the way that they go beyond the individual in order to become the myth of every person.”
